The 8 enrichment benchmarks – and how to evidence every one
The framework sets the standard. Avalon
Achieve® turns what your school already does
into the evidence behind it.
The eight benchmarks are DfE guidance (non-statutory) and referenced by Ofsted under personal development and wellbeing. Here we’ll map each one to how it can be evidenced.
Most schools already deliver great enrichment.
The gap is proving it.
Inspectors and the framework both ask the same thing: can you show a broad offer that reaches every pupil, and the impact it has? Avalon Achieve is built to answer that — mapping your provision to all eight benchmarks and producing the evidence without the manual spreadsheets.

Strategically Aligned
Enrichment is planned around the school’s vision and priorities — a clear, shared intent, not left to chance.
How Avalon Achieve Evidences This
- One customisable programme (e.g. your own “[School] Challenge”) that frames every activity around your aims.
- Leadership dashboards showing provision against your stated enrichment priorities.
Evidence: a leadership view mapping activities to your enrichment intent.
02 / 08
Broad and well-rounded
A wide offer spanning the framework’s five enrichment categories, so every pupil can find their place.
How Avalon Achieve Evidences This
- Every activity is classified by category and age-appropriateness, with capacity limits — so breadth is designed in.
- Coverage reporting shows instantly where a category is thin, before it becomes a gap.
Evidence: category-coverage report across the five areas.

Well-communicated, and celebrates participation
Pupils and parents know what’s on, and taking part is recognised and celebrated.
How Avalon Achieve Evidences This
- Promote what’s coming up through digital signage and your school website.
- Award participation points under a single celebration banner, with achievement written into the pupil record.
- Automatic parent and carer notifications keep families in the loop.
Evidence: participation and recognition visible to pupils, parents and tutors.
04 / 08
Shaped by the school community
Pupils and staff help shape and run the offer, so it genuinely reflects the community it serves.
How Avalon Achieve Evidences This
- Give senior pupils and prefects limited, role-based access to help run and register activities.
- Capture pupil-led provision, so student voice becomes part of the record — not an afterthought.
Evidence: a record of pupil-led and community-shaped activity.

Accessible and engaging — for every pupil
The offer must reach all pupils, and you need to show participation across SEND, disadvantaged, young carers, care-experienced and persistently absent pupils. This is the benchmark most tools can’t evidence.
How Avalon Achieve Evidences This
- A nightly, read-only feed from your MIS flags these groups automatically (matched pupil-by-pupil) so you never build a list by hand.
- Monitor and evidence who is, and isn’t, taking part across every vulnerable cohort.
Evidence: participation broken down by SEND, disadvantaged and vulnerable groups — the report inspectors actually ask for.

Works in partnership
Enrichment reaches beyond the school gates — external providers and activity happening outside school hours.
How Avalon Achieve Evidences This
- Record external-partnership and out-of-school activities alongside your own.
- The full picture in one place (not just what happens on-site).
Evidence: a combined record of in-school, partner and out-of-school activity.
07/ 08
Outcomes-focused
Enrichment is tracked properly and used to understand impact — not just counted.
How Avalon Achieve Evidences This
- Per-pupil enrichment reports, exportable in common formats and written back into pupil records.
- Form-tutor dashboards put the data in front of the people who act on it.
Evidence: exportable per-pupil enrichment history, ready for your records.

Continually improving
You review, learn and strengthen the offer year on year — and can prove the investment is working.
How Avalon Achieve Evidences This
- Trends over time show what’s growing and where gaps persist.
- Participation data can evidence and validate external funding.
Evidence: year-on-year participation trends and funding evidence.
