About the product
Avalon Achieve® is an enrichment management platform for secondary schools. It handles club scheduling and attendance, tracks student participation across extra-curricular activities, and manages a student awards and recognition layer — all connected to your MIS.
In practical terms, students log in to see their activities and progress towards awards. Form tutors see a real-time picture of every student in their group. Senior leaders can pull Ofsted-ready compliance reports on demand — filtered by SEND, PP, FSM or EAL status — without any manual data work.
SOCS manages clubs and fixture lists well. Avalon Achieve® goes further in three specific areas that matter for Ofsted and school compliance:
- Student awards and recognition — points, awards, and a visible progress layer that gives every student — especially disengaged ones — a reason to keep showing up.
- SEND and disadvantaged pupil compliance — PP, FSM, EAL and SEND status is pulled live from your MIS, so every participation report can be filtered by characteristic group instantly.
- Ofsted Enrichment Benchmark mapping — every activity is tagged to the five benchmark categories, so coverage and gap reports are generated automatically.
No. Avalon Achieve® sits alongside your MIS and reads from it — it doesn’t replace it. Student data (names, year groups, and characteristic flags such as PP, FSM, and SEND) is automatically pulled from your MIS each night via Wonde. You manage students in your MIS as normal. Avalon Achieve® uses that data to make enrichment reporting meaningful.
Students log in directly to Avalon Achieve® — they see their own activity history, progress towards awards, and upcoming events. Sixth formers and prefects can be given register-taking access.
Parental access is on the product roadmap. Notifications to parents for event changes and cancellations are already in place.
Yes. Students can log activities they do outside school — community volunteering, sports clubs, Duke of Edinburgh preparation, music lessons — and these appear in their profile for tutors to see and recognise. This is one of the features schools find most useful for the Enrichment Benchmarks, which require breadth rather than just school-run activities.
Avalon Achieve® supports DofE tracking as part of the wider enrichment picture. Students can log qualifying activities, which are then tagged to the relevant Enrichment Benchmark categories. It’s not a standalone DofE management tool, but it handles the enrichment and participation tracking side well.
Yes. Every school’s instance is branded with its own name and crest. Students log in to ‘Challoner Challenge’ or ‘SJB Horizons’ — not ‘Avalon’. It feels like your platform because it is.
Pricing
Pricing is per pupil per year on a sliding scale based on school size. We don’t publish a fixed price list because school sizes vary, and we want to make sure the quote is right for your context. Book a 20-minute call, and we’ll give you a clear number within the conversation.
No. Environment setup, data sync with Wonde and initial training are all included in the annual licence fee.
The annual licence covers the platform itself (and updates), Wonde MIS integration, onboarding support, and ongoing support (9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays) . Initial and ongoing training is also included.
To get the most out of the platform, a minimum term of twelve months applies.
Yes. Book a call with us for an initial discussion of your requirements and we will provide you with access to our demo school site where you will have full access to try out all features. We can also provide detailed references from our existing schools.
Technical & data
Avalon Achieve® integrates with most UK school MIS systems via Wonde — including SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom, and others. Wonde handles the data sync, so if your MIS is supported by Wonde, it’s supported by Avalon Achieve®. The integration is read-only and runs as a nightly sync. We don’t write anything back to your MIS.
Sign-in is supported via Google (Google Workspace for Education) and Microsoft (Microsoft Entra / Azure AD). Most secondary schools use one of these as their identity provider, so there’s nothing new for students or staff to remember.
Bespoke sign-in options are available if your school uses a different setup — speak to us.
All data is stored in the UK by default. It is encrypted at rest and handled in compliance with UK GDPR. We do not share data with third parties.
Access is fully role-based. Senior leaders see whole-school reports. Heads of year see their year group. Form tutors see only their tutor group. Activity leaders see only their club register. Prefects and sixth formers can be given register-taking access without seeing wider school data.
You control who has what access, and it can be configured to match your school’s structure exactly.
Yes. Avalon IT Developments Ltd is registered with the ICO. Data is stored in the UK, encrypted at rest, and handled in accordance with UK GDPR. Our full privacy policy is available here.
Avalon Achieve® is a web-based platform designed to work on all device types including tablets. The practicalities of mobile (non-tablet) devices mean some tasks (e.g. reporting) are better actioned on larger screens. However, for tasks such as taking registers off-site, mobile devices can be used.
Getting started
Our team will guide you through the set up process. Depending on your availability and the number of activities you want to monitor, set up can take just a few days.
The main things we need from you:
- Wonde consent (so we can connect to your MIS).
- A list of the enrichment activities you run and when they run.
- A school contact to lead the setup.
We handle the technical configuration.
Yes. Initial training as part of the onboarding process is included and usually takes just a morning – no limit is placed on the number of attendees. Our support site includes a knowledge base of guides on how to perform common tasks. These take the form of written instruction as well as instructional videos. If you require further support, you have inclusive access to our dedicated support team from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).
Staff turnover is one of the biggest risks in any school platform implementation. We build this in from the start: onboarding documentation, a clear handover process, and a standing relationship with the school rather than a single point of contact. When a key person moves on, we work directly with whoever takes over. Any re-training is included should it be required.
Support is available via email / support site. The support site includes a knowledge base consisting of written guides as well as informational videos for common tasks. If you need any further help, our dedicated support team is available 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).
Compliance & Ofsted
The five Enrichment Benchmark categories — civic engagement, arts and culture, nature and outdoor adventure, sport and physical activity, and developing wider life skills — are built into Avalon Achieve® as standard activity tags.
When you add an activity, you tag it to the relevant benchmark category. Reports showing coverage across all five categories, and which students are participating in each, are then generated at the click of a button. If an inspector asks, you have the answer immediately.
Yes — this is one of Avalon Achieve®’s strongest capabilities. PP, FSM, EAL and SEND status is pulled directly from your MIS via Wonde. Every participation report can be filtered by any of these characteristic groups.
In practice: a deputy head can see, in under a minute, which PP pupils attended enrichment activities this term, which benchmark categories they engaged with, and who hasn’t engaged at all and might need a conversation. That data used to take a half-day to process in Excel.
Yes. All reports can be exported to Excel with the UPN (Unique Pupil Number) included, allowing the data to be cross-referenced with other school data sources. This is the format most commonly used when sharing evidence with Ofsted, governors, or the local authority.
Assuming your data is up to date — registers taken, activities tagged to benchmarks — a full Ofsted personal development evidence pack covering enrichment can be exported in under an hour. No weekend of manual work. No spreadsheet reconciliation.
This is the outcome schools report most often when they switch to Avalon Achieve®.
Yes. The Government’s new School Profiles will include enrichment benchmark data. Avalon Achieve®’s reporting maps directly to the five benchmark categories, so the data you need for your School Profile is already being captured as part of your normal enrichment management.
Yes. Because PP status is pulled from your MIS and linked to every participation record, you can generate precise reports showing which PP pupils attended which activities, how often, and which benchmark categories they engaged with. This is exactly the evidence format that supports PP strategy documentation and Ofsted pupil premium review conversations.
